That's Not How It Goes

I could not wait to get on here and tell you all how well our sleep training with Chunko is going... Until it stopped going well.

We are in the final phase of the training where he stays in his bed and sleeps straight through the night. We sleep in our bed and he sleeps in his. Except Chunko is in the final phase of his parent training where he wakes up 9 times a night, screaming, and leaves his room to go play with the vacuum.

The other night, Chunko woke up about 2am and started his crying. Suddenly he went quiet and my love and I patted each other on the back, stupidly thinking that we were seeing an improvement. Until the next morning when we talked to my dad who told us he woke up in the boys room and has no idea how he got there but Chunko was holding his hand. That is so incredibly sweet but so not helpful.

I was starting to feel deflated but we talked with my (uber brilliant) Mother-In-Law last night and she suggested he might be teething.
Duh!
Smack me please?

Chunko rarely drools and chews on everything all the time so there's no real clear sign of when he's teething... Except his sleep schedule gets wonky and suddenly we're all 3 sleep deprived.
So we'll be testing this out tonight (please for the love of all holiness, let this work!!!!!!)

My love and I are sleeping in the same bed at the same time!! Now if only we could only sleep 8 straight hours in the same bed at the same time. Almost there.

Today is the 1st day of third grade for Fart Bone!
He was so excited, I'm surprised he didn't get out and push the car there!

Today is also the day we're getting rid of the crib. My friend (our previous super amazing and still totally awesome sitter) is coming to get it and then the "Chunko Baby Phase" will be over.

I'mnotgoingtocry

Oh and next week, my step-girl is going into high school and my nephew is going into Kindergarten, so this is my week of stuffing myself with chocolate and shuffling through baby photos. Lots of "I remember when they..." and "All the babies are growing so fast and they're going away to college soon and they're going to leave me" wailing and tears coming your way.

Do you have any idea how weird it is for me to know that I am not even 30 yet and that I am completely done with having babies? To shut that door on that chapter of my life is all too bittersweet. I am thankful for the boys I have but I am. so. done.
I've got my body back (mostly) and I am healthy.
I'll never feel the joy of growing life inside my belly again but I was not really a happy preggo so I'm okay with all that.
(I may or may not be thinking of surrogacy again, but don't tell my love, he might smack me)

Earlier this week I was a little worried about myself because I had heard that someone was pregnant and I got crazy jealous. I thought to myself "Um, really, jealous? Like you want another baby? Especially right now when you have a Godzilla baby?"
And then I had to sit and ponder my inner peacedom and I realized I was not jealous she was having a baby, I was jealous that she could have alone time with her hubby (and I am not thinking of hanky alone time, just being alone with him).

I really frickin miss my husband. I miss our whole family dog piling onto the couch to watch a movie. Or when we would just sporadically leave the house to go out to the mountains. I miss late night talks with my love about our day and weird stuff on our minds. I miss falling asleep in his arms. I miss canoodling like rabbits... I so did not just write that I promise (sorry Mom!).

We're being optimistic and thinking that since we're getting the sleep training and the switch to a big boy bed and to his own room that we won't have to go through all this later. And super bonus, we're also working on Fart Bone's deep fear of the dark. We've been asking him to be the awesome big brother that he is and sleep in the same room as his bruthy and keep an eye on him. And he has to sleep in the dark because the baby needs it. He freaked the first night but he's actually been since.
(oh frick, he come the tears again... *sniff*)

I'm going to go dry my tears and try to figure out how to lock all my babies in the basement.
And then I have to figure out to build a basement under our house without the neighbors noticing...

Ps, Fart Bone is Geeks. He asked that we change it to "Fart-Fart" or "T-Bone" so my FB family voted and it's now Fart Bone.

Pss, I just got a call from his school, apparently he wrote Fart Bone on his schoolwork. Oops...
